Clear Currents

For the first time, this year’s WaterFire Clear Currents was a part of Rhode Island Water Celebration Day, a day proclaimed by Governor Lincoln Chafee to mark the importance of water quality, access, and its uses that enrich the lives of everyone who lives in Rhode Island. Rhode Island Water Celebration Day was a project initiated by Leadership Rhode Island and all across the state, environmental nonprofit organizations will be hosting local events promoting it. The culmination of the day took place on the evening of September 24, 2001 where a group of canoeists paddled through the WaterFire Providence installation with illuminated Japanese Koi mounted on their canoes.
