 The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine recognizes BioMimetic Therapeutics, Inc. for their support of tonight’s event.

TIME OF FIRE:

The fires will be lit shortly after sunset at 8:18 p.m. and remain lit until midnight.

WEATHER UPDATES:

(Updated: 7/17/10 10:27 a.m.)  Today is a beautiful hot summer day with temperatures in the 90s.  The evening will have temperatures in the high 70s.  Bring your water bottle and your dancing shoes and get ready for a fantastic evening!

Luminaria Stations are placed throughout the park and are in place at sunset until 11:00 p.m.

Come light a candle to celebrate or remember!

The WaterFire Store on Steeple Street

 

Located on the corner of Steeple and Washington Streets, the tent will be up from sunset until 11:00 p.m.

Come stop by our new merchandise and information tent.  We have fantastic new designs on t-shirts, bags, sweatshirts and more.

Ribbons of Light

Ribbons of Light Stations are placed throughout the park marked by illuminated blue columns and are in place at sunset until 11:00 p.m.

Starry Starry Night

One hundred luminous blue stars are suspended in the triangular grove of trees in Memorial Park right next to Hemenway’s restaurant. 

**The installation is weather dependent and the Star Field will not be on display if the forecast calls for rain.

Beneath the beautiful blue stars are hundreds of Luminaria candle lanterns flickering on the lawn.  Please join us by making a wish and adding your light to the night.

TD Bank Ballroom

The TD Bank Ballroom is just one short block away from WaterFire beneath the famous Turk’s Head building at the intersection of Westminster and Weybosset Streets in the Downtown Financial District.  The dance lessons begin at 7:00 p.m. and the band plays from 8:00 p.m. until 12 a.m.

Verizon Jazz Stage

The Verizon Jazz Stage is located outdoors on Steeple Street, between North Main Street and Canal Street.  The concert runs from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

The entertainment for tonight’s event will be Mike Tanaka and Friends.

Visit the Verizon Wireless and Communications tent on College Street for giveaways including 4 VIP tickets to the New England Patriots’ training camp at Gillette Stadium and 4 Patriots’ Hall of Fame tickets.

Bring down your old cell phones and accessories. All donations will be collected by Verizon Wireless and support the Hopeline to benefits victims of domestic violence.

Celebrate Ten Years of Ten31

Gargoyles, the Oracles & many other exciting characters!

The characters will be performing at the World War I Monument in Memorial Park near College and South Main Streets from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Discover the Gargoyles and other Ten31 characters!

The Gargoyles are the creation of Ten31 Productions in Providence.

Andrew Anselmo: "The Origami Guy"

The Origami Guy will be performing on Canal Street (near The WaterFire Store on Steeple Street)

For years, Mr. Anselmo has brought his origami paper creations including frogs, cranes, penguins, and many more to the streets of Providence to the delight of thousands.

Fire Dancer: Spogga

Spogga performs throughout the park

Spogga, the WaterFire Fire Dancer, spins fire by the river.

RiverWalk: Before the Fires are Lit

 

Tours last 60 min. and depart at 5:30 p.m. from the John Brown House Museum on 52 Power Street in Providence

 

This walk shares the history of Rhode Island’s capital city and the history of WaterFire. $10 per person. Half of all ticket proceeds from the river walk benefit WaterFire Providence. The tour takes place on all full lightings, reservations requested: Dalila Goulart @ 401.331.8575 x45 or programs@rihs.org.

 Roger Williams National Memorial Hosts Special Junior Ranger Day

Take the kids over to the Roger Williams National Memorial at 282 North Main Street in Providence for a fun filled day!

Special Junior Ranger Activities from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Toe Jam Puppet Band starting at 2:00 p.m.
